Beyond the Wrapper: Why the German Government is Backing Cambrion’s Deep Tech

December 23, 2025

In the current AI gold rush, it has never been easier to build new software features. With a few lines of code and an API key, anyone can claim to be an "AI company."

But there is a profound difference between renting intelligence and building the infrastructure that makes it usable for the enterprise.

At Cambrion, we have always known that solving the "unstructured data bottleneck", a problem costing enterprises billions, requires more than just passing a PDF to an LLM. It requires Agentic AI: systems that can plan, include relevant context, and improve their own accuracy over time without constant human hand-holding.

Today, we are proud to announce that this distinction has been officially recognized.

Cambrion has been awarded the R&D grant (Forschungszulage) from the Federal Ministry (Bundesministerium für Forschung, Technologie und Raumfahrt).

Why does this matter?

This grant is not just additional funding. It distinguishes companies doing standard software development from those conducting fundamental research and development.

It recognizes that Cambrion is not building a "thin wrapper." We are engineering novel approaches in:

  • Agentic Orchestration: How autonomous agents interact with various tools to solve complex extraction tasks.

  • Adaptive Learning: Systems that don't just extract data but learn to get smarter.

  • Reliability: Pushing the boundaries of how models understand business context.

This support allows us to double down on the hard engineering problems that turn "promising AI" into "production reliability."

We are now super excited about the code we are yet to write in 2026 and beyond. Back to building. 🚀
