The platform is based on Vision-Language Models (VLMs) and an agentic AI core. The process to set up a workflow and automate processing follows four distinct steps: Goal Definition: A user provides a sample document and specifies the required data fields. This tells the AI what information to look for. Pipeline Creation: Cambrion’s Pipeline Agent analyzes the request once and creates a unique processing pipeline. The proposed data schema can then be configured. Pipelines can also include additional steps, such as validating data against internal data sources or enriching it via web search. Continuous Processing: Once integrated, the pipeline runs automatically. Yes. The Cambrion platform can process Excel files, including support for multiple sheets within a single file.

Our customers most frequently process documents in German, French, Italian, English, Danish, Norwegian, Swedish, Finnish, Spanish, Portuguese, Czech, Slovak, Polish, Hungarian, and Romanian. Additionally, Cambrion can process other character sets, such as Chinese, Hindi, Japanese, and Korean. The platform's user interface is currently available in English.

How many documents are needed to start?

A single sample document, along with your natural language extraction requirements, is enough to configure a workflow. Large datasets and manual data labeling are not required for setup.

How long does it take for Cambrion to process a document?

Our REST API supports both real-time (synchronous) and batch (asynchronous) processing to fit your workflow needs. The average processing time can vary based on several factors, including the number of pages, file size, the complexity of the document's layout, and the specific functions configured in your pipeline, such as data validation or enrichment steps.

No. Customer data is not used to train any AI models, neither Cambrion’s nor the general-purpose models from our underlying technology partners. Your data is processed exclusively to fulfill your document processing request.

Cambrion Wins Best of Technology 2026 in Process Management

Two years ago, the most common question in a first meeting was: can your AI read this? Nobody asks that any more. Everyone assumes it generally works.

The questions that decide whether a document process actually changes are harder ones. Can the team see why the system produced a given value? What happens on the document nobody anticipated? Who signs off, and when does that stop being necessary?

Cambrion took first place in the Process Management category at the Best of Technology Awards 2026, awarded by WirtschaftsWoche together with strategic partner Capgemini and scientific partners Fraunhofer ISI and the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT).

What the jury looked at

Not a model. A harness. The platform wraps language models in orchestration, grounding and deterministic validation, so every extracted value can be traced back to the place in the document it came from. The guardrails exist to catch what the model gets wrong before it ever reaches a downstream system.

Every pipeline starts at full human approval. It moves up only when the department that owns the process says it is ready to let go, never because an accuracy number crossed a threshold we picked ourselves.

What that looks like in production

A manufacturer cut handwritten test-protocol review from around 30 minutes to under one. A customs team clears trade invoices three times faster, with roughly 99% fewer errors. Ten thousand pages of patent documents a year moved from weeks of manual work to minutes.
