Cambrion Is a Finalist in WirtschaftsWoche's Best of Technology 2026

Any model can read one clean invoice. The hard part starts at the five-hundredth document, when the layout shifts, the scan comes in rotated, and a credit note arrives looking almost exactly like an invoice.

That gap between a convincing demo and a system a finance team can actually rely on is the whole problem in document automation. It is also where we have spent the last two years.

Cambrion has been selected as a finalist in Best of Technology 2026, the annual review of digital solutions run by WirtschaftsWoche together with strategic partner Capgemini and scientific partners Fraunhofer ISI and the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT).

Reaching the finalist stage meant putting what we are building in front of a jury that looked at it closely. What they made of it in detail is a conversation for another day.

The short version: the platform turns documents of almost any layout into structured data that downstream systems can use, with no template to maintain per document type, and it runs on EU-sovereign infrastructure or entirely inside a customer’s own environment.

What that looks like in production

A manufacturer cut handwritten test-protocol review from around 30 minutes to under one. A customs team now clears trade invoices three times faster, with roughly 99% fewer errors. Ten thousand pages of patent documents a year moved from weeks of manual work to minutes.

The finalists were named ahead of the award ceremony at the beginning of September. Until then, the work does not change. Back to building.
